The Playground is owned by two Indonesian sisters, Ibu Devy and Ibu Ita. It was developed and is run with the help of their Canadian friend, Mary Pugh (Black). Phase 1 which was the dry play area was opened in October 2006, followed by Phase 2, the wet play area in early 2008.
The Playground was developed in response to the severe shortage of outdoor recreation for children in Jakarta. We are pleased that other similar Playgrounds are being developed in Jakarta and are proud to have The Playground be their model. We pride ourselves on the park-like feel of our facility, with its spacious grass area and abundant trees.
The Playground is very well utilized by expatriate and Indonesian children alike. Several Yayasans bring underprivileged Indonesian children to play free-of-charge at The Playground, and we also welcome the children of neighbourhood domestic staff on a complimentary basis.
Our Vision: to introduce the concept of safe and fun outdoor family activity to the Indonesian market.
Our Mission: to get children playing outdoors, away from electronic devices.
